Day 995

Nico spent the entire day out in the field with me and one of my co-workers. Our day started at the office where we worked on reinforcing his obedience. He did really well heeling through the building and holding a sit stay with co-workers moving our our lab space. He even settled in the work truck within a few minutes of leaving campus, something he would have never done before. We always felt Nico had a lot of anxiety and I think that is true. It likely stemmed from us not giving him enough direction and setting clear boundaries. Without those he was constantly at attention thinking he needed to be prepared for whatever might happen next. Now he has more confidence both in himself and in knowing that we have everything covered. While out in the field he did amazing at staying with us and recalling right away. As soon as we got home he passed right out and I expect he’ll remain that way for the remainder of the evening.
