Day 993

He's back! We picked up Nico from the Upstate Canine Academy today. Their training staff spent two hours teaching us all that Nico has learned and how to keep moving forward with his training. We were impressed with his ability to stay neutral around a dog doing off-leash recall in the facility. His heel, place, sit, stay, and recall are greatly improved. The most significant improvement we've seen is his ability to remain neutral when there are distractions and the duration that he can stay engaged with whoever is handling him. We put him right into a challenging situation by visiting my parents and their dogs. We've been able to recall him out of play with his Uncle Dickens and hold a 'down stay' for up to ten minutes with the other dogs distracting him. We still need to work on his over-the-top energy when playing with other dogs, but our main focus is his ability to remain neutral around dogs when asked.
