Day 1,302

It’s easy to hole up inside on rainy days, but it can also be quite enjoyable to stroll through the forest. Nico and I enjoyed a half-hour walk along trails near our house this afternoon. Here is a fun science fact for you. Humid air traps odors, causing them to persist in the environment for longer. So, from a dog’s point of view, rainy days are excellent days to survey the scent landscape. A dog’s primary sense is smell, making it all that more enjoyable to sniff stuff out in the woods. For safety, we outfit Nico with an orange jacket this time of year because it’s hunting season, and we don’t want anyone to mistake him for something worth shooting. His wet jacket also traps odors… like a marinated damp dog. Haha.
