Day 1,320

Today is the solstice, which is exciting. Before taking on this project, I never thought of the solstice that much. But the short days this time of year make photographing Nico each day challenging. Because my work is primarily based on natural light outdoor photographs, the short days limit the time we have available each day. On top of that, because photography isn’t my full-time job, I’m often away from Nico during the daylight hours. The idea that we will have more light each day after today is exciting.

Since I took up photography in high school, my dream has been to be a photographer. I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to be a “professional” photographer for over a decade as a side hustle. But to be honest, it’s hard. It’s tough when my list of ideas for creative projects is longer than time will allow me to create. The folks who choose to support this project on Patreon help make it a little easier to keep going and provide me the flexibility to pursue a project like this, which isn’t something I can sell or that a client would pay for. My heartfelt thanks to all those who support me on Patreon. It means a lot, thank you. 🙏🏻
