Day 1,319
Sometimes, I reflect on how much this photography project has affected Nico’s life. For the past 1,319 days, he’s had a camera and sometimes a giant flash shoved in his face. I don’t think he cares, and obviously, he has no concept of why this happens each day. All he understands is once a day, I point a strange object at him, often ask him for behavior, and he gets a reward afterward. He’s been conditioned enough at this point that he knows that something is about to happen when I pick up my camera. He usually gets excited to go outside or off on an adventure if it's early in the day. If he’s snoozing on the couch, he’ll stay put and watch as I get all my camera gear ready.
At this point in the project, I have over 20,000 images of Nico in my photo library. It’s easy for me to get how big of a project this is and how much we’ve done so far. Within seconds, I can bring up an image of Nico from any day since we’ve gotten him. I can look back at these posts to remember what we were doing, or in many cases, the images alone remind me of that day. I don’t know if anyone has ever completed a project like this.
Many thanks to my Patreon supporters for making this photo series possible. Nico and I spend more than an hour each day working on this project; without Patreon, we wouldn’t be able to keep this going.
