I left Nico’s food bin open last night because I was grabbing kibble out of it to give him as I worked on filing his nails. After begging for dinner for a half hour or so, I’m pretty sure he took it upon himself to make his dinner. I walked downstairs to him, standing in the middle of the living room with a very guilty look on his face. I put some food in his bowl, and he gave me a look as if to say, “Uh, do I need to eat that I’m stuffed.” He took a few bites, looked at me with a pitiful look, and backed away from his bowl. That confirmed that he had already eaten to his heart’s content. He was bloated the rest of the night and woke me up early this morning to go outside. He spent the whole day napping (and farting) on the couch. Thankfully, Nico had self-control over how much food he ate. Khyber did this once and ended up in the emergency room at 4am because he was so bloated he couldn’t sit or lay down. This is why we have a locking food bin, but it doesn’t do any good if the lid is left open!
